Summer Session Grants

The Summer Session Grant (SSG)  provides funding for undergraduate students, especially for underrepresented groups. Students pursue course work during the summer session at other accredited colleges, universities, or at Stanford.

Purpose

The program assists students in completing courses required for an engineering major, e.g. engineering fundamentals, science, chemistry, differential equations, other math, GER, etc. It provides flexibility in the student’s four year plans and an opportunity to improve the student’s grade point average.

Awards

Students are selected according to their academic need and potential for achievement reflected in their application proposal. Selected students receive $100 to $3000 in grants. Typically, if selected for a Summer Session Grant award, the student will receive $150 per unit, although there may be larger awards for special circumstances. Units must be transferable.

Eligibility

Undergraduates with a declared major or academic interest in Engineering who plan to complete courses during the summer session and use them towards graduation requirements. Applicants are especially sought from the following groups: women, Native American, African American or Hispanic American.
