Engineering Memory of the Month
A musical gift
Almost as soon as he had helped build the house up, entrepreneur and philanthropist Paul Allen brought the house down with his guitar back on June 11, 1996. Allen was the naming gift donor for a 52,000-square-foot extension of the Center for Integrated Systems, which houses many of the school’s leading laboratories for semiconductor and computer systems research.
Allen, perhaps best known for co-founding Microsoft Corp., dedicated the building with musical flair by jamming at the event with D’Cuckoo, one of his favorite bands. In the photo, he’s playing an energetic rendition of "Take me to the River."
Gather your memorable photos from your school days and take them to the scanner. Then e-mail them to David Orenstein, manager, Communications and P.R.
