Tutoring is available free to all undergraduates. Tutors hold regular hours at most residence halls around campus for introductory courses in math, chemistry, physics, biology, and other classes. Individual tutoring for more advanced courses is also available. Engineering tutoring is sponsored by a partnership between the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and the school's Engineering Diversity Program (EDP).
Stanford Engineering encourages qualified students who are interested in tutoring to apply.
Tutors are available in most courses by appointment. To meet with a one-on-one tutor, visit the online appointment scheduler. Additional resources through the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) can be found here.
The Accelerated Calculus for Engineers (ACE) program provides exceptional tutoring in calculus courses here at Stanford.
If you are looking for a tutor in a course not listed, please write tutoringhelp@stanford.edu. CTL and Stanford Engineering's Office of Student Affairs (OSA) will work together to try and find a tutor for you. This process can take a week or more. In the meantime, attend all study sessions and office hours offered by the course faculty and teaching assistants to keep up with the class.
Apply directly to CTL. Undergraduate and coterm students are preferred. CTL and Stanford Engineering are also interested in reaching out to underrepresented diversity students who wish to be trained and hired as tutors, particularly from the societies: SWE, SBSE, SSCLES, and AISES. Visit the CTL Page for becoming a tutor or email tutoringhelp@stanford.edu with specific questions.
