Request for Funding
The purpose of the School of Engineering/Office of Student Affairs Request for Funding is to provide money to student associations for projects or activities that benefit the engineering community. This program derives its funds from a portion of the profits of Ciao Cafe, the cafeteria located in the basement of Terman Engineering Building.
Although funds are limited, the Dean’s Office will make every effort to provide small grants to student associations that are conducting activities with academic value and that have a significant impact on engineering students. Grants will not exceed $5,000.
- Proposals are accepted and reviewed quarterly. Submission deadlines for academic year 2009-10 are:
- Autumn: October 23, 2009
- Winter: February 5, 2010
- Spring: April 23, 2010
- Please note: Proposals for early fall activities should be submitted by spring quarter.
- Submit your proposal to Darlene Lazar in Terman 201.
- Your proposal should include the following (please see this Request for Funding Template for the proper format and sample entries):
- A brief history/description of your organization.
- Total sum your group is requesting, with an itemized budget and brief description of your various activities.
- Total sum you are requesting from Stanford Engineering Request for Funding.
- An itemized list of other proposed funding sources and the amount requested from each.
- The name and email address of your contact person.
- Your organization’s ASSU account number or department’s PTA (place on the cover page).
- Incomplete proposals will not be considered.
You will receive an email acknowledgment upon receipt of your group's proposal. Shortly after the submission deadline, the review committee will meet to discuss each proposal and to make funding decisions. You should receive email notification of the Committee’s decision no later than the seventh week of the quarter. Funds are typically disbursed five to seven working days after notification.
Questions about the process prior to submission should go to Darlene Lazar in the Stanford Engineering Office of Student Affairs in Terman 201. Questions about the status of a proposal should go to Michele Brown, also in Terman 201.
