Please join us for the launch of the newest IDEAL IT affinity group, Stanford People of Color in Technology (POC-IT).
Stanford People of Color in Technology (POC-IT) is a university-wide affinity group that advances representation, engagement, and support of people of color in technology roles at Stanford.
While primarily aimed at university, SLAC, and Stanford Medicine staff who work or have an interest in technology roles, POC-IT also welcomes faculty and students, allies, and those in non-technology roles who are interested in participating.
There will be introductory remarks from Steve Gallagher, Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Stanford, and Rodney Carter, Computer Information Systems Analyst in University IT (UIT) and POC-IT Program Lead. Harry Elam, Senior Vice Provost for Education and Vice President for the Arts, and also one of the POC-IT sponsors, will provide keynote remarks on the importance of bringing your authentic self to the workplace. Remarks will also include fellow POC-IT sponsor, Dr. Shirley Everett, Senior Associate Vice Provost for Residential & Dining Enterprises (R&DE). There will be many opportunities to interact with fellow colleagues, including a fun group activity intended to build community. Please contact Rodney Carter at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in volunteering for the various planning committees that will be formed, or if you have any trouble registering for the event.
