The Global Engineering Internship (GEI) Program offers students an exciting summer opportunity to expand their engineering skills by getting hands-on work experience while being immersed in a culturally diverse international environment. Open to undergraduates, coterms, master's, and PhD students, the jointly-funded program collaborates with partner companies in developing economies to match students with impactful internships that provide invaluable global perspectives and real-world engineering skills.

Program Timeline

  • Applications Open Period: Nov 15, 2025 - January 31, 2026
  • Internal Interviews/ Match: December 2025 - February 2026
  • Company Interviews/ Offer Confirmations: January - March 2026
  • Internship Program Dates:  Late June  – Early September, 2026

Eligibility

  • Students must be in good academic standing to apply.
  • Priority will be given to students declared within the School of Engineering.
  • Undeclared students are required to have completed at least two engineering fundamentals-approved courses (excluding ENGR 70A and CS 106A) prior to departure or have a significant educational background in engineering. See the Undergraduate Engineering Handbook for more details and information on engineering fundamental courses.
  • School of Engineering graduate students are eligible to apply.
  • Students declared outside of the School of Engineering won't be eligible.
