Bridging Educational Learning Opportunities to Navigate Greatness (BELONG) @Stanford aims to illuminate and support the brilliance of future engineering students. BELONG is a year-long program that utilizes a comprehensive research-based approach founded upon student success theories to uplift first-year students who are first-generation college students, low-income, or those with limited exposure to advanced engineering curriculum. BELONG participants benefit from the support necessary to increase persistence and resilience in the engineering majors at Stanford.

The BELONG Program offers

  • The professional skills and social capital necessary to successfully navigate the engineering world and Stanford University.
  • Mentorship from current Stanford undergraduate and graduate students majoring in engineering.
  • Participation in workshops led by campus partners and faculty on a variety of topics including but not limited to a general introduction to the different types of engineering, four-year planning, well-being, career readiness, goal setting, and research opportunities!
  • Priority consideration for participants in good standing to enroll in ACE program courses.
  • Additional academic support via biweekly cohort study halls

Eligibility Criteria

All first year Stanford students including first year transfers* are welcome to apply. The BELONG@Stanford program is designed to support and empower experiences of first generation, low-income and those with limited exposure to engineering curriculum. 

*Transfers from a 2-year college are eligible if they are enrolling at Stanford for the first time.
